Join us at the Translations of Everyday Objects exhibition – we explore how ordinary objects can hold meaning across different cultures, people, and places and how they relate and connect.
Travel Things Museum collects and curates exhibits of “items” encountered while travelling. It focuses on the intrinsic power of the material object, as something with latent meaning, to be interrogated, cherished, compared and upheld as an item with a voice of its own, that tells a story.
How do we convey or receive feelings, thoughts, emotions, and different meanings through objects across different cultures? How does messaging change across global boundaries? We present a diverse, eclectic and juxtaposed assortment of traditionally crafted pieces, artisans’ treasures, architectural accessories; vernacular packaging of ephemeral items for accessories, toys or consumables, and discarded objects rediscovered.
